Ni Xulin believed that he could learn about the training of athletes from all countries during the championships, which was a kind of stimulation for him and could bring him improvements in all aspects. "Rowing is a sport that tests people’s willpower and team spirit," he said. According to Ni, athletes competing on the same rowing boat eat, live and train together every day to cultivate their tacit understanding and cooperative ability.
"It is a great experience to watch the national flag being raised and hear our national anthem being played after winning the prize. It is also an affirmation of this year’s training," said Zhou Xuewu, who participated in the championships for the first time. He felt excited and honored to achieve the outstanding result and win glory for SCNU and for China.

The success was hard-earned. With a daily training intensity of 80 kilometers and 13 consecutive hours, athletes often had bleeding blisters on their hands due to holding the oars for a long time, and it was also common for them to feel backache. What’s more, in order to meet the standard requirements on the physical condition of athletes of lightweight rowing, Zhou Xuewu and his teammates had to endure hunger to keep their weight below 70 kilograms. "Under the weight restriction, we need to overcome more difficulties, so we should cultivate more willpower and fighting spirit," added Zhou Xuewu.
Meanwhile, Zhu Guoxin, a senior majoring in physical education, and Mu Xiaolong, a freshman majoring in sports training, won the sixth place of the men's double sculls in the adult group.
The Chinese team won altogether 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals in the championships this year. Gold medals were won in the men’s lightweight coxless fours, the men’s coxless fours, the lightweight women’s double sculls and the men’s quadruple sculls, while the silver medals were won in the women’s quadruple sculls, the women's coxless fours and the women's double sculls.
