SCNU won the bidding for a six million yuan bid (about 831,000 USD) for a horizontal project about aesthetic education from the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau. The project will take three years to finish, aiming to improve aesthetic education at primary and secondary schools.

Led by Professor Luo Guang, the bid-winning project will be jointly undertaken by the School of Fine Arts and the School of Music. It shows SCNU's new breakthrough in art horizontal projects and its devotion to nurture the root and soul of the nation through aesthetic education, which will contribute to educational development and boost the economy.

Following national education policies, since 2019, the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau has been making efforts in the development of school physical education and art education with the help of universities and related educational resources available in Guangdong province. Thus, the pilot project is to bring aesthetic education at primary and secondary schools in Guangzhou to the next level by providing more resources as well as chances for teacher training and academic exchange.

According to remarks made by President Xi Jinping to political advisors from the sectors of culture and art, and social sciences in 2019, the mission of workers in culture, literature, art and philosophy and the social sciences is to nurture the root and soul of the nation. In line with this spirit, SCNU has always been firm and resolute to provide high-quality social services and promoting aesthetic education.
