Dr. Du Ning, an associate professor of the School of Physical Education and Sports Science of SCNU, umpired at the 2022 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup for Men.
According to a decision made at the 2016 AVC Board of Administration Meeting, all local federations sending their teams to participate in any Asian Volleyball Championship must each submit three candidate referees to the AVC. Dr. Du Ning represents one of the three accompanying referees of China. He officiated at important AVC Cup matches such as semi-finals and third-place playoff by appointment of the General Administration of Sport of China and at the invitation of the AVC. He has been well recognized by the secretary of AVC and the chairman of AVC Referees Committee for his work at the game.

Dr. Du is the only international referee of indoor volleyball from Guangdong Province, and he currently teaches at the professional sports training department of the School of Physical Education and Sports Science of South China Normal University. He also works as the coach of the second women's volleyball team of SCNU. He received his doctorate from the School of Physical Education and Sports Science of SCNU in June 2019 and accepted by the School of Physical Education and Sports Science of SCNU as a backbone teacher in August 2021.

The 2022 Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup for Men was held at the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Gymnasium from August 7 to 14. Eleven teams participated in the competition, from Australia, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong China, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei. China beat Japan 3-0 at the final, winning the championship for the first time in 10 years.

Starting from 2008, the AVC Cup is being held every two years and seven men's volleyball competitions have been held. The Chinese team won the championship twice, respectively in 2012 and in 2022. The 2022 competition is said to be the last AVC Cup for men. It will be replaced with the AVC Men's Challenge Cup which is to be held annually as the qualification for the Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL).
