According to his speech, SCNU would take an active part in the exploration of both theory and practice in the field and promote the high-quality development of school football, making full use of the center and the advantages from disciplines and talents at SCNU. “The forum offers a rare opportunity, and we will seize the chance to acquire profound insight from experts and seek improvement of the relevant disciplines.” he said.
Chen Jiansheng speaks about the South China School Football R&D Center.
Chen Jiansheng, the head of the Guangdong Sports Health and Art Education Department, said in his speech that the development of school football is boosted by current policies and the financial support of the local government. He fully affirmed the center’s achievements: “The work of the Center has proved fruitful.” It provides strong scientific support for the development of school football in Guangdong.
Wang Dengfeng expresses his hope for the forum and the development of school football.
Wang Dengfeng, the head of the National Sports Health and Art Education Department, believes the development of national school football over the past seven years has not only achieved the objectives formulated in the General plan of Chinese football reform and development, but also formed a system with efficient teaching, adequate practice and abundant competitions that can help promote school football, foster talents and improve the sports level. He had also elaborated on his expectations for the development of school football for teenagers.
He mentioned that the promotion of school football should be a primary goal, which is to attract more children to love football and enlarge the football-playing population. Secondly, the talent-selecting mechanism should be improved. Potentially successful children could be selected for systematic high-level training camps through the selection systems based on the school football league, summer camps, as well as the training level of massive training camps. Also, to boost the healthy development and improvement of school football, where the hope of Chinese football lies, we should make effort to develop a teenagers training system that is based on schools and not separated from daily learning. Finally, he had also expressed his hope for the forum, to give full play to its educational role to promote school football.
Youth scholars give presentations on line.
At the parallel on-line forum, international and domestic experts made theme presentations. Carlos Hervés Beloso, a professor from the University of Vigo (Spain), and Miguel Ángel Gómez Ruano, an associate professor from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), gave their in-depth speeches about the growth and training mode of Spanish youth football coaches. Besides, Chinese experts shared their comparative research findings on the young player cultivation systems at home and abroad.
Moreover, the forum has received 426 papers from 89 universities and 14 primary and secondary schools in China and 127 of them received awards after experts’ selection, including 20 first prizes, 40 second prizes and 67 third prizes. 20 young scholars—the first prize winners—gave presentations on two major topics, firstly, the development of school football and secondly, the cultivation of football talents. Their reports covered topics such as training camp and system construction, training competition and sports injury prevention.
The South China School Football Research and Development Center was set up by the National School Football Office at SCNU in May 2020. As the first professional school football research and development center in China, it focuses on the construction of campus training camp and adopts relevant investigation and evaluation, serving the research and practice of school football for young people nationwide.
In the future, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province, together with SCNU, will build the center into a multifunctional whole, serving as a think tank, a resource platform and a teacher training center for school football in southern China. It will also promote the in-depth development of school football planning, teaching, scientific research and teacher training in the province, Chen Jiansheng said.
