On May 16, the Sino-Dutch Advanced Materials Forum sponsored by the South China Academy of Advanced Optoelectronics was held on the University Town campus of SCNU. This forum is a grand gathering of exchange and cooperation in the field of advanced materials between China and the Netherlands. Many famous people such as Nobel Prize winner, vice president of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and academician Bernard L. Feringa, Jiang Lei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dick Young Bohr, and Albert Vandenberg, both academicians of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, Ren Yonghua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Jasper Knollster, dean of School of Science of the University of Groningen were invited. Wang Enke, the president of SCNU, had friendly discussions with the experts who participated in the forum.
The forum was chaired by Zhou Guofu, dean of the South China Academy of Advanced Opto-electronics. At the opening ceremony, the leaders delivered speeches respectively to congratulate the fact that the Sino-Dutch Advanced Materials Forum was held, highly praise the current situation of scientific and technological cooperation in the field of new materials between China and the Netherlands, and express the determination to further increase their support for Sino-Dutch scientific and technological cooperation, while having high expectations for future joint development.
The participating professors and experts made reports on molecular motors, bionic super-wetting systems, responsive intelligent liquid crystal materials, microfluidic applications in energy, metal complexes luminescent materials, self-assembled molecular aggregates and their optical applications, as well as the latest advances in electronic paper technology. Their speeches were highly commended by the teachers and students who were present at the forum. Teachers and students from SCNU had discussions with the experts.
The successful holding of the forum has enhanced exchanges and cooperation between China and the Netherlands, laid the foundation, and pointed out the direction for the further construction and development of the "Green Opto-electronics International Joint Research Center" of the National Science and Technology Cooperation Base of SCNU. The leaders of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou also indicated that they would continue to encourage bilateral cooperation between China and the Netherlands and increase their support for scientific and technological cooperation projects between the two countries, especially in the field of advanced materials. The forum confirmed the existing long-term close cooperation between China and the Netherlands in the field of advanced materials. It once again demonstrated the advantages and fruitful achievements of SCNU in the field of international cooperation, laying a solid foundation for the joint research center between China and the Netherlands.
