On April 4, Sheila Manion, vice president of St. Louis University, visited SCNU and held talks with Ma Weihua, vice president of SCNU to promote the Joint Training Program of the International United College (IUC) and St. Louis University.
At the meeting, the two sides first reviewed their good foundation of cooperation since 2014. Then, they further discussed the joint training program currently under way. They also exchanged views on the future cooperation intention to jointly build innovation and development research institutes, and reached a preliminary consensus.
Attending the meeting were the foreign representatives, notably Winston Chan, director of St. Louis University, and Allan Zhang, director of Asian Affairs, and of the SCNU representatives Wu Jianli, dean of the International Business College and the International United College, Tan Weihong, director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Zhang Changhai, executive vice president of the International United College, Zhuang Huijuan, vice president of the International Business College, and Chen Huan, deputy dean of the School of Software.
In recent years, close cooperation has developed between SCNU and St. Louis University, and they have gained gratifying achievements. Since 2014, SCNU has carried out a cooperative program with St. Louis University of studying abroad. Two students have received high scholarships from St. Louis University. In November 2018, the assistant president of St. Louis University, Justin Daffron was invited to attend the 85th anniversary of SCNU, and signed a memorandum of cooperation on joint training with our school at the signing ceremony of the establishment of the International Union College and the Internationalization of the Nanhai campus. This year, the Sino-US Innovation Course in Financial Management with a recruitment plan of 40 students will be on the books. Through the joint development of cooperative majors, introducing foreign core courses and dispatching teachers, both universities can explore substantive joint training so that students can enjoy high-quality educational resources abroad and at home, while being offered opportunities to enter US universities and obtain degrees.
