On the morning of March 20, the opening ceremony of the China Education Association for International Exchange Cross-border Education Quality Assurance Research Center, and the opening ceremony of the Sino-foreign seminar on cooperative education quality assurance capacity improvementwere held at the International Business School on the Nanhai campus. Zhou Yan, deputy secretary general of the China Education Association for International Exchange, and leadership experts, as well as the leaders of the relevant departments/colleges of South China Normal University attended the ceremony and witnessed the ceremony of the establishment of the research base, the signing of the Agreement on Quality Assurance (Certification) for Sino-foreign Cooperation, and the awarding of experts for the cross-border education quality assurance research base. The event was hosted by Wu Jianli, dean of the International Business School and executive dean of the International Union College.
Zhou Yan said that in the process of accelerating the development of "double first-class" strategy in China's colleges and universities, cross-border education and its quality assurance are important topics in the internationalization of higher education. The China Education Association for International Exchange and South China Normal University have jointly established a research center for cross-border education quality assurance, which is a major effort to promote the development of cross-border education in China. The Association will conduct more in-depth cooperation with the Chinese partner to jointly undertake theoretical research and practical innovation, exploration of governance, monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance of cross-border educational institutions and projects across the country, and jointly promote the quality assurance of cross-border education.
At the launching ceremony, Zhou Yan and Ma Weihua signed the Agreement on Quality Assurance (Certification) for Sino-foreign Cooperation in South China Normal University. The finance major of the International Business School at SCNU is the first Sino-foreign cooperative education project approved by the Ministry of Education. In order to comprehensively assess the quality of project management, our school will cooperate with the China Education Association for International Exchange’s Sino-foreign cooperative education committee, and carry out quality certification according to the relevant laws and standards of the government, and conduct quality certification for the finance major, thus ensuring Chinese and foreign quality assurance in cooperating in the quality of running schools and promoting the sustainable development of the project.
At the award ceremony, Zhou Yan and Ma Weihua jointly issued a letter of appointment for the representatives of the experts who were hired: Lu Jiangzhong, dean of the School of Educational Science, and rofessor Gary Miron of the University of Western Michigan. Furthermore, Liu Baocun, president of the Asian Institute of Comparative Education/Beijing Normal University International and Comparative Education Research Institute, Feng Weizhe, director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of China Agricultural University, and professor Barbara Clark of Aberdeen University, UK are employed as experts at the cross-border education quality assurance research base.
From March 20 to 22, the Sino-foreign seminar on cooperative education quality assurance capacity improvement was held at the International Business School. The seminar was hosted by the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Committee of the China Education Association for International Exchange. It aims to implement the spirit of the National Education Conference, promote the development of high-level sino-foreign cooperative education, improve the quality of running schools, and focus on policy theory and management practice.
Tang Zhenfu, deputy director of the Academic Exchange and Research Department of the China Education Association for International Exchange, Gary Miron, deputy director of the Cross-border Education Quality Assurance Research Center of South China Normal University, and professor of the University of Western Michigan, and other Chinese-foreign cooperative education certification experts were invited to the seminar. They gave lectures on sino-foreign cooperative education policies and development trends, external quality assurance theory and practice, management process analysis, and legal and financial issues. 66 representatives from 45 universities across the country participated in the seminar.
